>I have a client who has a small peer to peer network. One pc has windows 98 and the other Windows XP. Both have been working fine running software that I have been patching since 1996. They decided to get on the internet, but didn't think about any kind of antivirus software. Hmmm, I get a phone call about how nothing is working on the xp box. I ran Avast, and cleaned off all the viruses. One small problem still remains - Foxprox.exe won't run. Even if I try to launch it from a dos prompt. The first attempt results in an error message saying 'cannot locate foxprox.exe'. If I retry, it just hangs. Has anyone else seen anything like this? If so, were you able to fix it without reinstalling the operating system?

I had a similar support call last week only it was Fox Dos 2.5. Not sure if this is the same problem as you because there was a mention that the files setting was too low in config.sys. I went into config.nt and changed FILES=40 TO FILES=55 and everything was back in business.
