Interesting stuff,
We live in a global marketplace now, we need to adapt to it. Even with the exceptions were talking around 100K Visa's/Year, that's only 2000 per state.
It is interesting that people want salary and opportunity equality, but only if the competition is raised to their expected level, but more likely the trend will be to achieve equality at the lower level.
What isn't mentioned, is that US business's become more competitive by utilizing lower cost labor. How many companies would have gone out of business or out of the country if they had to pay the 2 to 4 times the wages (think unions).
The world is changing, shrinking by the minute. It's counterproductive to try to change this (with protectionism, for instance) rather than accept it and change yourself to be better positioned for the new paradigm.
The real problem is we have become fat and lazy, and others are eating our lunch because of it. Maybe that recent comp sci graduates with no experience in programming, business, or life isn't worth $50K.
