>>Related, last night I watched the Copa final on tape delay and realized how hopeless my Spanish is when it's spoken rapidly. The match was only telecast in Chicago on one of the Hispanic stations. Every so often I would catch a word or name but most of it was a blur.

>No. I don't think so. The replay showed it wasn't his fault, or stupidity as sometimes happens. He tried; just wasn't their day. I watched it in English in GolTV (cable), live and was not happy, but what can you do?
I didn't mean he didn't try on the own goal / autogol. But what could he have been thinking to strike a ball that hard anywhere in the direction of the goal? I said to my daughter that the shot couldn't have been any more perfect if it had been struck by an attacker.
He was the same defender on the first goal and didn't cover himself in glory on that one, either. Maybe others saw it differently but to me it looked like he let the Brazilian attacker beat him to a long pass and then did little if anything to impede the shot. A rough day at the office.
