Hi Gerald,

I have seen windows install a serial mouse driver when another serial device is attached. I had to disable the serial mouse driver not delete to keep windows from installing each time computer is booted.

If that doesn't work, then you can change the port number in the device manager. That way whatever program is using it will fail leaving the port open.
