You can't say what my response demonstrates. I'm sure it is a huge problem. However, I don't think debating it here will make any difference, and it does seem to take up an inordinate amount of thread, and it does seem to be tantamount to an obsession with some people.

Now, in the UK we have a big immigration problem. I don't know if you recall the Sangatte alien detention centre in Calais, France, that was being used as a staging area for aliens to make a dash to the UK (why they wouldn't prefer to stay in France, I don't know). The problem got so bad that the centre was closed a few years ago.

The Home Office here admitted a year or so ago that it had no idea just how many illegals were in the country. Now we're a small island, one of the most crowded in the world. When I was younger I remember the popn. always being c. 56 million - now it's over 60. The EU has expanded and once an illegal is in any part of it it facilitates travel to any other part. Then we have the "problem" of the "Polish plumber" where E. European labour is coming in and undercutting the shiftless, lazy, ne'er-do-well brit labourer.
