>Myopia is near-sightedness.

I know. Or as we say, short-sightedness. I was saying what needing glasses to read a prescription was - ie not long-sightedness

>That's where I started back in grade 7. Now I wear bifocals and I hate them. I got reading glasses because in order to read close with bifocals, I have to look through the bottoms of the glasses, but when I have to look at something on a top shelf (like at the bookstore), it's almost impossible. Same when I'm working on the computer, I wear reading glasses instead of my bifocals.

That's why I got the varifocals. I had bi-focals but I found that the computer screen wasn't easy, but reading a book was. So I could wear another pair of specs for the computer. It started getting ridiculous. Now I just pick whichever "slit" of lans suits whatever and very happy with them. Besides, bi-focals, like someone said, show your age! :-)

I've now even got varifocal contact lenses. I wear one in my left eye and a normal lens in my right. Makes me feel like Borg! :-)
I need them esp. for diving, as specs don't fit under your mask. :-)

>Unfortunately, I can't use the reading glasses they sell at the pharmacy - they just make things worse. Those are all positive (+1.5, +2.0 etc) while I need negative.

>>Isn't that myopia instead? A mate of mine wears glasses for myopia all the time but lifts them up to read.
>>
>>>That's farsighted, right? Then you've had that your whole life? I didn't understand the true nature of not seeing with clear accurate vision (I've had 20/15 my whole life) until I started needing glasses for fine print. Wow, I could really sympathize the first time I had to read the small print on a prescription bottle and couldn't! :o)

>>>>>I have 1x reading glasses that I bought at Walmart (per the eye doctor's recommendation) and use for reading fine print on medicine bottles, ingredients on food products and shampoo, et al. I finally had to admit that the print wasn't getting smaller and it was my eyes :o) I actually have a prescription that has 1x on the bottom and nothing on the top. I've never used them though because I only need them when reading small print and I'd rather have larger glasses for that then try to look through the very bottom of glasses.
- Whoever said that women are the weaker sex never tried to wrest the bedclothes off one in the middle of the night
- Worry is the interest you pay, in advance, for a loan that you may never need to take out.
