Ah, but how do you know WHAT they would have been called - if you'd had them?

I used the word hypotenuse to illustrate the distance saving, from Pythagorus,if they existed.

Practically EVERYTHING to do with transport is different between our countries:

Off-ramp - exit
on-ramp - slip road
intersection - junction
median - central reserve
shoulder - hard shoulder (to cry on! :-)
pavement - road surface
sidewalk - pavement
krrrrrrrrb - kerb :-)

et al
