That kind of book is generally called "Core reference" from MS press but I don't think you can find one at the level you need (roughly calculating to match hackers guide by Granor it should be at least 30-50K pages long).
Documentation sucks, you're right but it gets updated and better every few months. There are literally thousands of books about .Net and I have bought 15+ with none matching the level you need.
C# itself is another book separate from controls (included as ebook or word doc in MSDN library but I warn you, you can simply fall asleep reading it:)
