Much like Grand Junction, CO. Salt Lake is 6 hours west and Denver 5 hours east. Neither drive is one you want to do in the winter (especially not through Glenwood Canyon and Vail Pass). The flight from Denver or Salt Lake City sure ups the price of the ticket when flying though.

>Quite humorous to hear all the long drives people have. I sure can not complain. Moved from the Midwest (N.D.) out to the New England area. My commute to work is 2 blocks (which I really enjoy) however to go back to see my kids is another story. Approx 1750 miles 30+hour drive and do it about 3 times per year. The drive out to the Midwest is quite enjoyable, but the return sure gets long. Many ask why not fly. Well, the nearest Airport with reasonable ticket prices is MPS and that is about 5-6 hour drive yet. Once in awhile you may find reasonable ticket prices in off times, but they are scarce.

>>>Wow! I'm driving 180 miles to Gloucestershire this Friday and I see that as a major undertaking. I guess it's easy to forget just how small the UK really is.

>>FWIW, I'm planning a day trip on Saturday, 150 miles each way. Should take 2.5-3 hours each way.
