>You didn't fool me - I know what downs are. They make pillows out of them, and they do feel gentle. Chalk must refer to the color then.

No, they make pillows out of "down"

>Um... is it true that you can actually hear them rolling, if you concentrate?

No, you just hear the skylarks singing up aloft, and the sussuration of the wind.

There were never a better proof against the 6 days creationists than chalk Downs (what the White Cliffs are made of). Millions of years of trillions of tiny shelled algae dying and dropping to the bottom of the sea, to be compressed into chalk (and the process still goes on to this day and at times the milky bloom can be seen fom space). Then the land upheaves to a great bulge of chalk, above the sea. THEN millennia (or megennia?) of the bulge being worn down to the underlying rock, leaving the chalk Downs, North and South, just at either side, but these are immense in themselves.

I suppose if there were a Down called "Duck Down", and you took a duck down duvet there, and lowered yourself onto it to avoid detection, then you'd "Duck down on duck down, on Duck Down"
