I work just 3 miles from Newhaven in Sussex here. In fact that's where I get the ferry to France, 20 mins from my house.
Incidentally, talking of the bus services here cf the USA, coming home from work the other evening I saw a loine woman, in a wheel-chair, waiting at a bus stop. It reminded me that our local buses "kneel down", like an elephant, so the gangway is level with the kerb, to board old, infirm or wheel-chair-bound passengers. She'd just roll on and the front of the bus features a large area with flip-up seats.
