Not really plastic, it wouldn't stick to the knife so much. Must be something else.

I just typed manometer to see whether the spell checker would accept it. It is a manometer, and that's what we call it back home, but you're right, nobody calls it that here. Funny, though, nobody calls odometer "revolution gauge", or thermometer "temperature gauge", or yardstick "longitude gauge".
