>>Ha Ha, it's what we call an egg whisk! :-) I was imagining a big galvanised steel industrial pastry mixer! :-)

>>>
>>>I found the joke mentioned on this website, http://blacklullaby.wordpress.com/2007/01/30/offensive-tv/. Search for the word "sellery" (not "celery" for some reason).

>>What an OBSCURE ref, just to see the word "sellery" ;-}

>Now, do you emember the joke? I did some more google searches and I found this:

>One of the running jokes was that the two beautiful waitresses (what they saw in René, who is no Adonis, but clearly exudes some animal magnetism unseen to the audience, is both mystery and running joke in itself) would provide more personal services to the German officers in the bedrooms upstairs. Colonel von Strohm would always want the stick of celery and the flying helmet, and it was the egg-whisk for general von Klinkerhoffen.
>
>Here's another quote: From the pilot episode onwards there have been distinct kinky undertones to 'Allo 'Allo!. During the many visits up stairs with the waitresses at the Café, the Colonel and Captain have been known to make use of the famous "flying helmet and wet celery". The use of an egg-whisk is also common.

I think I may have heard the Colonel mentioning celery but I've never been aware of this feature of he series.
