I still don't understand what exactly you want to achieve for what reasons, but the following expression returns different values depending on whether the object is loaded into the designer or instantiated as a regular object:

=IIF(TYPE("SYS(1272,THIS)")=="C",TTOC(DATETIME()),"in designer")
