But DevCon is just one conference. Southwest Fox already has 90 people registered and it's still three months away. It'll be well over 100 by the time the conference starts, which is actually an increase over last year.

My comment wasn't about conferences in general -- IMO, there's more reason to attend conferences now than ever -- but about DevCon and how Advisor has killed it.
