We're actually going to have (already do have) a VB front-end that drives RF handheld devices, by communicating through OLE to our middle-tier.

I haven't looked at the new DE yet. I've got VFP6 here, but haven't had a chance to poke around much. I'll take a look tonight. Thanks for the pointer.

Now, if you are thinking of going another rout with the front-end, have you looked at or read up on the new Data Environment object in VS6? This may be more suited to your needs if you are sure that the front-end will *not* be VFP.
