>>>They have other hotlines for drugs, illegal activity. Even the IRS has a hotline for tax cheats. What's the difference? If I thought someone was illegal, why can't I call a number to report it? Because I'm not sure? Well, then all the hotlines are suspect then.

>>Oh I don't have a problem with his hotline - it's about the ONLY thing that guy does I dont have an issue with. Making inmates sleep outside in tents in 118 degree heat with almost no food doesn't seem right though.

>Sorry, thought you did. Didn't know about the tents/heat thing. That doesn't sound right.

Oh this list of things goes on forever too. Some of it is just ridicilious, for example he makes all the inmates where pink underware. Now obviously there is really no harm in that, but he's doing it just to be mean and cruel. Some of it seems really dangerous though - like being outside 24/7 in temps like that in a even hotter unventalated tent... plus a large portion of what little food they give them (2 tiny meals a day) is often spoiled (proably due to the temps and the length of time it takes to deliver it to them at the "tent cities". What I can't figure out is that it's an elected position - how the heck this guys keeps getting the job I'll never know.
The ACLU is all over the guy too. My parents live in Phoenix and at least once a month during a phone call they'll say something about what they read or saw in the news about Sherrif Joe and his jail - and its always troubling news.
