>Reading the responses led me to a solution using temp files but a question still remains which I direct to Naomi (since she brought up config.fpw). In order to direct temp files to the root of c: I used the the vfp menu tools/options/fileType/temporary files/modify method. I looked for syntax to set the temp file path in the config.fpw file but could not find it. What is that syntax? is it overridden by the method I used (tools/options...)? How much do you use the config.fpw file?

tmpfiles = 'c:\temp'

I don't think it's overridden, but I haven't tried the other method myself.
If it's not broken, fix it until it is.
