In my rather limited experience it's reliable enough. However, you often have to do things in a more complex way then with MS SQL server. For example, you can specify many options on the connection string, but you have to do so with a numeric value where each bit represents one option. Also, the syntax is sometimes different from standard SQl or MS SQL.
