>I think if I want to disable most items in the Word file menu I will have to do it in the word file. Does that sound reasonable? Does any one know how to do it and is willing to post an example?

We can disable menu items, no problem (and it was shown already), but the problem is that Word wants to write these changes in the Normal.dot template file.

So, somehow we need to supress that, I think.

May be someone has a better idea?

Or do you probably want to use your own template file? This may be an idea to try.

Say, copy Normal.dot file into safe location, disable the menus, close the file, save changes, open your real file. Or simply copy your own predefined Normal.dot back and forth.

Then once everything is done, restore the original Normat.dot file.
If it's not broken, fix it until it is.
