The vaccine came out after the girls were past the prime chickenpox years and in fact had both had it. He was not a fan of the vaccine. He said chickenpox is a fairly mild disease when you're young but can be serious if you're older.

And that last point is why we had Nathaniel vaccinated at 16 or 18 when he still hadn't had them.
