How could you miss a leak like that for 7 hours! Makes you wonder about competency sometimes, eh? Oh well, not much *I* can do about it, other than be glad it's not close by.

However, I just looked at Google Maps and it's closer than I thought. It's only about 90 miles to the Southeast. But the wind almost always blows from the Northwest, so we're good. And the way the wind blows in Ellensburg, we probably still wouldn't have to worry about it even if we were only a couple of miles upwind.

We are famous for our wind here. Maybe Chicago is the Windy City, but *we're* the Windy Town. <g> Today's not too bad, but we typically have 15-20 knot winds on a regular basis and more often than I'd like it's in the 20's (I forget what the miles per hour conversion is ... but it would be higher).

>>Oh, that's lovely. Yes, we're upwind of that. Ellensburg is smack in the middle of Washington (draw an X on a map of the state, and we'll be pretty much at the intersection of the lines.) Hanford's well to the south of us.

>That's good to hear. It sounds like nasty stuff they're dealing with, and the spill wasn't detected for something like 7 hours.
