I think everyone experience this, especially when you provide a solution to a request in record time. Once you have done that, all requests fall into the same time category from non IT people.
I found that for the very "easy" request I have given a standard Month time frame to complete. No matter how simple it is. I have found that the followup to the request is more defined and when you are able to complete in a timely manner, everyone is happy. It seems to put the responsibility on the person making the request to be more definate and to the point exactly what is required.
People always take it for granted when you give them what they want! I find that their negotiating powers come into play and are a little more aware of your time commitments are.
