>I am writing a report with VFP report writer where keeping the groups together (no page break) is very important. Th number of records in each group varies from 2 to 20-30 lines. I'd like to determine the size of the next group at the end of the current group, and then force a page break or not.

If you can calculate on what page each record is supposed to be, you might have a field where you insert, precisely, this page number. Then, create a group on that field, and make every group start on a new page.
