>>As for Turkey vs Nuclear boggeyman, they already have sort of undeclared martial law in place (Army generals having almost all the power) so they are as secure as US wld became if martial law is ever do be declared.

Not a good thing in my opinion and not something I would prefer. Countries strictly controlled internally by a dictator or the military may be safe for its citizens but I would not trade that for our quality of life and level of freedom ever.

Of course Tracy :)
Nobody should ever trade/compromise any peace of their freedom.

It was more of a joke targeted at US military complex in US aspiring greater
deal of power/influence in US politics.
Unlike in Turkey where army grip on power is more less public, current US situation with two wars going on and myriad of government/military/security agencies being (re)formed and given high level of power, is very tricky and potentially dangerous ground for level of freedoms US citisens enjoy (or at least have impression of) having.

Country/Nation at War and Democracy/Freedoms never lived very well together.
Parranoya is spread easily, fears run high, repeated lies tend to be accepted
as truth, public can be very easily manipulated (we lived trough all that
in Milosevic era) and pushed twds very deep ends.
I just hope US choose wiser/better this time for themselves, and for all the rest of us worldwide for that matter.

Peace :)
