Well, I agree it's a biggie, but I'm not sure it's the most sacred. Joe Dimaggio's record of 56 games in a row with a base hit seems to me to be a much more astonishing record.

If you're strong enough, take enough roids, and hang around long enough, you're going to hit a lot of homers, but there is no way to reach Dimaggio's record other than through an awful lot of sheer talent.

At the same time, it's Barry Bonds. When Henry did it, he did it with honesty and class. Bonds did it with neither. His name will go into the books, but I expect that far fewer people will care than cared when Aaron did it.
