A little VFP historical trivia for you:

One of the differences between dBaseIII and FoxBase+ was that FoxBase+ only showed the record count every 100 records when talk was on.

There were other enhancements that made it run way faster than dBaseIII, for instance dBaseIII got slower and slower as the record count increased, FoxBase+ did not, but the display change was part of the overall speed increase.
