AFAIK, it only updates the header for the LUPDATE() function, and checks it for the return value of that function. BTW, I would hope that the LUPDATE() function would be re-written for Y2K compliance (check the actual time stamp rather than the data in the header). I haven't checked to see if the Release Candidate of VFP 6.0 does or not.

Lastly, remember that getting a lock on a record or table, also comes from the OS.
