You might want to get the freeware utility PAGEDEFRAG (google it) and use it as well. It defrags your pagefiles and some other normally un-defragmentable files. You can run it when needed or you can set it to run on every boot (it's very fast - a few seconds normally). You still need to use Windows defragger like you are doing.
There are also a couple of utilities that will run windows defragger as a scheduled task in 2000 and XP. I can't think of the names at the minute but a google search will dig them up.
