>Only system BARs can have names the rest have numbers. You can assign BARs "names" by using #DEFINE directive.<<

>I have a menu which has a sub-menu. So I understand that the top menu is what you refer to as "system BAR", right? And the sub-menu is not a system BAR, therefore I can only assign it a number. What is the purpose of the BAR #? Can I use it in my code to locate an item in the submenu?

No I was refering to BARs (as in DEFINE BAR) on POPUPs. The BARs on system menus have names, like _med_copy or _med_paste. You would use BAR name (for system items) or # for cusrom BARs to reference them in your code.
