If you subscribe to either, you can get many of their channels free over the internet (usually just the music channels) or you can pay an additional couple bucks a month and stream all of them.

I never used one of Sirius' portable solutions, but I think you have to basically download a stream to the player and then listen to it....I always wondered how you could get the music on a portable player without satellite view.

I have had Sirius for a couple years now and love it.
