>>At first glance, it seemed like SIRIUS was a better fit for me. But then I noticed that the Bob Costas radio show (which I love) is only covered on XM Radio, and that Pioneer has a great portable player for XM Radio.

>I've got Sirius. I can't imagine having to listen to "normal" radio anymore. I know a lot of people can't imagine paying for radio, but being able to listen to music without a commercial every 10 minutes is HUGE, especially if you listen to the radio for more than 10 minutes at a time. You also have a much larger selection.
I am tempted by satellite radio for exactly the reason you mention. Commercials! When I was driving back and forth to work I alternated between a few stations -- a rock station, a classical station, a news station, and a sports talk station -- and they were all increasingly dominated by ads. With the exception of the classical station, which is reportedly asphyxiating, there are about 17 minutes of ads every hour. And always the same few advertisers. It wears you down over time. I don't suppose it has anything to do with there being only two main radio companies in the country now (deadpan look).
