The main reason is because they get in the way of other Visual Controls on the form and the design screen looks very messy.
Also, you normally end up actually making the Sqldatasource invisible because you place a Visual Control on top of it.. when you come back to this screen in 6 months time you are windering ???? wheres the SqlDatasource gone... this is compounded if you ennd up with multiple sqldatasources on the screen.
