How and when did we decide that pro athletes are supposed to be role models for kids? Babe Ruth sure as heck wasn't, as he went out drinking every night. Ty Cobb was said to be the nastiest SOB anyone would ever meet.
We pay these guys to be athletes, to give their best for their team. Now some of them turn out to be great human beings as well (Jackie Robinson and Roberto Clemente come to mind), but who says they all have to be? Tamar,
I make a distinction when an athlete does commercial endorsements (and Vick certainly was involved with those!) In that instance, there's an increased level of responsibility.
(and yes, Cobb was as mean and nasty as they came!!!)
