I started school. We had a bit more freedom about the bus thing, but all the others were there. Growing up somewhat in a rural area, we could ride/walk to school or not take the bus home without a note, but that would never happen at her school today. Not sure I agree that having them is a bad idea though. I will say, I hate rules that seem to have no purpose, but if it's regarding safety, I'm ok with that. Never saw it as oppression though.
