Does anyone know the solution to this irritating problem.

I have a windows APP written in VB.NET 2005. It's purpose is to convert several and sometimes large ASCII files and load the result into a SQL database. That part is working fine.

To show my progress, I have a couple of Textboxes on the screen to show "Processing Record Number X of Y". This part works fine as long as I never:

(a) Move the window with my mouse or
(b) open any other application such as Outlook or
(c) allow the screen savor to kick in.

Just as soon as any of the above takes place, my VB.NET window enters into a 'Not Responding' State and ceases to update my progress boxes. The program continues to run, so if I let it set, it will eventually finish.

The progress boxes are nice to have because it gives me an idea of whether the program will run another 30 minutes or another hour. But, by not being able to use other applications while it is running because I will lose my 'Progress Report' is quite irritating. I might as well remove the 'progress report' altogether.

Any thoughts?
