Depending on you needs you could alsouse SQL Compact instead of SQL Express. If you can live with its limitations Compact has the advantage of not requiring an installation. You just ship a few assemblies. And you don't need to attach a database. Just copy the file to some location on the server:

If you need something more powerful, you can use VistaDB. It's not free, though:
