>>>Numbers are the reason I will never lose my love of baseball. Fake hulks like Barry Bonds and Mark McGwire can stain its reputation but its allure will never die. The Rangers, a team going absolutely nowhere, having dumped their best player at the trade deadline, score 30 runs and then add 9 runs in the second game to complete a doubleheader sweep. Go figure.

>>Yeah the Ranger have always been the little train that couldn't. Tom Hicks is no help either.

>>But I think DFW is a bad baseball market. They can't seem to attract any good pitcher.

>D/FW is a lousy sports market in general. All they care about is winners, who they beat their chests about until the steers come home. They turn on losing teams faster than you can turn your mother in law's picture to the wall. The Scowboys were pulling in about 25,000 souls in the losing years. Plus, all they care about is football. There is an apt saying that there are two sports in Texas: football and spring football.

Texans actually have *three* major sports -- pro football, college football, and high school football. Anything else is filler (some say that all three are professional sports, BTW)(bg)...

I lived in the D/FW area for two stints, one of eleven years and another (that just ended last year) for over eight years. In all that time, I *never* went to a Cowboys game and never had the desire to do so. I've been to games for the Rangers, Mavericks, Stars and Desperados (most with tickets I won or was given) along with some other teams that don't exist anymore (the Sidekicks, the Tornado and the Black Hawks). Most were a blast, especially the Stars playoff games back in their Stanley Cup year.

The Rangers *used* to be a fun club to watch -- when Michael Young, Kevin Mench, Laynce Nix, Mark Texeira and all the young kids were there. They couldn't go anywhere due to the *idiotic* organization they worked for, but at least they were fun to watch. Now that the fools in the front office have squandered away all the young talent, they're just boring most of the time.

Great stadium to watch a ballgame, though. Of course, there's a lot of those nowadays.
