It is more prevalent than people think but also more hidden. Once, a fellow programmer whom I respected a LOT, asked me if I would be interested in writing a program to track dog lineage for a breeder. I asked him about the requirements right off the bat. It started out with lineage, then kennels and feeding schedules, then exercise routines and health stats and finally show results. All sounded reasonable until he asked how would I feel about tracking fight results? I was so disgusted that I walked away and refused to discuss it again. I lost all respect for the other programmer as well. I was absolutely astounded that I was even asked to do such a thing, let alone that the other programmer actually knew someone involved with dog fights. I didn't even want to consider the possibility that he may have participated in it. Many thoughts ran through my head, from agreeing and then turning them all in, but I realized that I may never actually come into contact with anyone directly involved so it would accomplish nothing.
