That could very well be true, maybe that's where the rappers and hip-hop folks got it from.

>To the best of my knowledge, the dress style actually starts in the prison system where they take away the belt (you might hang yourself or someone else with it) and clothes aren't exactly well-taylored. After you got out of prison, it was a way to claim 'street-cred' and proclaim that you had been to prison (like it was something to brag about).

If yer not smart enough to pull yer pants up I suppose bragging about your prison record doesn't seem that far fetched.haha

>>The dress style started with the hip-hop culture, which is prodomently black. Over the past few years it has migrated it way to the suburbs to some degree (probably why the bible-thumpers are freakn out), but it orginated in the inner-city-urban areas of mostly black neighborhoods. Meanwhile, the clueless middle class teenagers have started to adopt this culture. Guess the popularity of the music in part and partly because they're too stupid/lazy to come up with their own culture and styles these days.
>>Anyway I guess I kinda disagree - the law is aimed at black folks/black culture because eeek eeek eeek its seeping into mainstream smalltown USA eeek eek.
>>
>>>Aimed at black folks? I disagree Victor. When was the last time you saw teens of all race and colors walking around? That dress is prevalent among teens of all races and ethnicity.

>>>>Sure, I think its ridicilious when I see a guy walking around with his underware hanging out and his jeans around his knees...but then again I dont think the government should be making laws about how people dress either, plus this is a law that is obviously aimed at black folks. With all the stuff going on these days you'd think you'd want to keep the police busy on something else.
>>>>I'd be interested to hear what others think about it. Personally I don't think we need the pigs harrasing guys based on how they dress. Just because someone has such poor social skills they dress like a fool ya shouldn't make it a criminal act. Is this somehow offensive? ooooh I see yer boxer shorts! I'm calling 911! eeek! eeek! gawwwd get over it! "....The proposed ordinance would also bar women from showing the strap of a thong beneath their pants. They would also be prohibited from wearing jogging bras in public or show a bra strap...." - yeaaah riiiiight. Hey you put that law into effect out here in Ft. Lauderdale and 70% of the girls on my beach will be getting tickets. Stoooooopid.
>>>>Hopefully the American Civil Liberties Union can help put a stop to this.
