Hey, which kind of box? We're going tonight. We'll be in our regular seats in section 130. OK, not "box" seats, but right behind home plate. We were in Section 123, Row 25.
My thoughts:
- Charlie Manuel is now officially a total idiot. The minute he brought in Myers in the 9th in a tie game, I knew he'd be touched up for a run or two. You NEVER bring your closer in, when the game is tied. Manuel also pulled Lohse after 84 pitches. I was sitting a few rows back from some scounts and a guy with a radar gun who had Lohse's velocity still around 92 - they were shocked that Manuel pulled Lohse, given the Phillies bad bullpen. And finally, Manuel pulled Burrell before the ninth inning, when they could have used his bat.
- The Phils left 23 men on base. Pathetic.
- Brett Myers needs to start thinking with his head and not his heart. He watched the Padre reliever blow 96 mph gas past the Phillie hitters in the bottom of the 8th, and decided to challenge everyone with his fastball. (and then challenged a reporter after the game).
- Tom Gordon is a total waste of a uniform. Throws a 3-0 fastball right down the middle to Milton Bradley, which tied the game.
- I hate to use this word, but this is just like every season since 2003 - they're choking.
Right now, this team is on life support. If they lose today, they are done.
