>To be fair, in the U.S. most doctors pay for their training by student loans. Even here, it is years before they can pay those off. In other countries where the salary is controlled, it is probably even longer which in effect means the money they bring home is probably much less than the average worker. Their dedication to the medical field (which really is what good doctors are all about) means sacrifice by their families. I know quite a few good doctors here who have less take-home pay than I do and I wouldn't hesitate to request their services if needed.

I have a friend who is an OBGYN doctor. He works with a group of other doctors and you'd think he was knocking down about 500k per year. He says he makes less than 200k per year and it gets tighter all the time. Doctors are scared to death of malpractice suits, and according to him, they all get sued. I've been fortunate to not need much medical care, at least until the back surgery, and what I have had has been excellent. I tell people my doctor walks on water and breathes under it.
