I can just about work out that you are talking about sport (I think). Whats a scount and do people really take radar guns ? Truly we are two nations seperated by a common language.

Haha, sorry. Actually, I was close to using the slang term for a radar gun (a "jug gun").

At baseball games (which is where I was), baseball talent scounts often sit behind home plate. Also, some will bring a radar gun (which you can easily hold up with one hand), to track the speed of pitches from a pitcher. Teams use the readings from a radar gun to see if a pitcher's fastball is decreasing in velocity as the game goes on (sign that he's tiring). Baseball is a game of inches (more like millimeters), so when a pitcher's best fastball goes from 92 mph to 90 mph, a hitter is more likely to catch up to the pitch.
