Look up its windowtype - if it's AsTopLevelForm, it can't be modal.

But you seem to have a different sort of trouble - the focus seems to revert to formA. I've seen this in some older versions of Fox (6? 7?), where the modal form would come up behind the caller form. The trick to cure that was to set its .alwaysOnTop briefly to .t., then back to .f., but then I think this is different from your situation. It used to get focus, it would just stay behind.
