One observation:
I used the code from your blog to add text to a JPG. Now suppose I wanted to add another text at a diff. place on the updated JPG, I have to have a different name for the input and output files else the 2nd write of text does not happen.

In short I cannot read and write to the same JPG file, I have to specify different names.

Is this by design? Can the limitation be overcome (except for writing twice)?
