>>It's the liberals who have taken corporal punishment out of the schools. Here in Memphis, we had a super liberal superintendent who took corporal punishment out, and the idiots have been running the asylum since then. They are now holding hearings, and many teachers are testifying that when the young thugs learned they weren't going to be punished, they started assaulting the teachers and other kids at will.

>Punishment !== Corporal Punishment
That's so true. Not everyone needs the beat down, but it should be about the last thing on the disciplinary continuum. It's not in the list today, and that is part of the problem.

>There are other ways to punish students besides hitting them and thus convincing them that force is the only thing that matters. While corporal punishment might be effective with little kids, what happens when you're a 5' 0", 100 lb. woman teaching a 6' 4", 250 lb. linebacker. You better be able to discipline him with words and behaviors, 'cause you sure as heck can't overpower him.

That's why God made coaches! We had 100 lb women teachers when I was in school too, but they either took golf lessons, or took the kids to the coaches or principal.
>Good teachers and schools know how to use discipline effectively without corporal punishment.
