Hi guys!

A very good friend of mine has a project for his company. It´s a Multi-level one (Hope this is the right word, but it´s something like Avon) so he needs a Desktop application for all his associates. It´s seem by now around 1,000 people working with him.

It´s not a big deal with the app itself. What makes me doubt is that he wants to gent some stadistic info every time the people launch the app. This had to be via Internet.

On the other hand, the projection is to have around 50,000 people in 5-7 years.

My webserver (Well, not mine, the one use) works well, but I can´t install any components so maybe I need to work with something like MySql.

Thinking about the future and don´t wanting to major changes in the future...

1.- It´s VFP a good Idea?
For me works great, it´s my main language and I know can make lot´s of great things.

2.- What is the best Database?
In a future, maybe transactions or simple statistics could be very large. Thinking about a Non-VFP database on the web... It´s easy to get some updates from web to my local VFP tables? (Antivirus fashion like)

3.- What about the server?
Is it a good idea to start with a hired server or is it better to buy a new one and manage it by myself?

4.- Another technology?
This a step that I don´t really want to take, but... I need to think in the future of the app, fixes, new versions, updates, etc. We want to make it the easiest way.

Any comments on your experience would be really appreciated.

Thanks in advance!!!
By two common phrases in his vocabulary, we know Hercule Poirot was a great Developer: his use of "the little grey cells" and "order and method".
