I have a grid whose purpose is to display link tables between a legal document and the people who are responsible, it's a M:M so I have a link table in the middle and it's always viewed from the documents point of view. the link table has the 2 id's, a dummy text field and the %responsibility.

To represent this I have decided to use a grid with 3 visible columns: the dummy text field (showing the person's name), a button and the % responsibility.

The idea is that the user will type in the person's name and press the button (labelled "Find"), a modal form will pop up asking the user to confirm the choice and put the id into the hidden id field, update the dummy table field and change the button label to "Open". Then if the user clicks "Open" they can see the person's full record.

Everything is fine until I try to change the dummy field and it changes it but instantly changes it back again. When the button changes to "Open" it changes for every instance in the grid.

Any ideas where I'm going wrong? All suggestions will be appreciated.
