Like I said, it's necessary to move the file pointer after setting a filter, in order to see the filtered data. As I explained, LOCATE, without any args just moves the file pointer to BOF, cf Go TOP but faster.

Locate is only faster than GO TOP if the filter is at least partially optimizable.
