I'll be happy when the last VFP table is deleted. They were great many years ago, but they do not hold a candle to the database engines (SQL Server, etc). Most database engines are free when limited to the database sizes that VFP is limited to. They are orders of magnitude more reliable and secure (I mostly use SQL Server as my point of reference). Most are scalable to sizes that dwarf anything VFP tables can do. SQL Server and Oracle (at least) can meet or exceed VFP speed user for user easily. They really aren't hard to use in VFP - get used to it and you'll never go back.

The VFP development platform on the other hand is a huge loss to me. As far as I'm concerned I've never used or seen an environment where I can build fast, modern, reliable applications. .NET has big advantages in sheer amount of pre-built classes available and of course .NET does web applications natively, but it still takes more time and effort to build a Windows app in .NET than it does in VFP.

I miss VFP already and I still use it a lot.
